A cracking volley by Johnny Byrne and a goal from Robert Codner saw Brighton to a 2-1 victory. John Robinson having scored one of the goals against Millwall in the play-off semi-final was attacked by a Millwall fan who ran onto the pitch. Mark Beeney ran from the Brighton goal to wrestle the fan to the ground who was then arrested by police.
