Left home just after 12:30 and got the 201 to Mitcham and then got the S1 bus to Sutton which felt like an age. Got to the ground just after 1:30 and started selling programmes at the Gander Green Lane end of the ground. Went and sat with Mum, Dad and Joseph and as I was sitting down Beautyman curled the ball into the bottom corner to put us 1-0 up. It looked like we were in control from what I managed to see before the opening goal and that continued throughout the 1st half as Chester didn't threaten for nearly all the 1st half. It wasn't the greatest of spectacles but we were comfortable for most of the game without really getting going on the nice football front. We doubled our lead about 5-10 mins before HT through one of the scrappiest goals I've seen for a long time. The corner came in and it was headed on by Tommy Wright and the save from the Chester goalkeeper bounced off Harrison's chest to make it 2-0. We deserved to go into HT leading but not because we played brilliantly, just because Chester were that bad. 2nd half, we again didn't come out and perform and Chester improved and got back into the game through a dodgy and scrappy free kick which was put in the box and smashed home by Akintunde to make it 2-1. This set up a nervous 15 mins where Chester started to get hold of the ball and have chances to equalise but luckily Stearn made it 3-1 with a fantastic curling effort into the top corner to make it 3-1 and settle the nerves until the ref decided to give a very poor decision and give them a penalty on 87 mins which they converted to again make the final 5-10 mins a nervous affair but we managed to hold out a win the game to go top of the league. Got the 17:10 train back to Tooting station and walked back home getting back just before 18:00.
