Comments :
Travelled by coach but met my southern based dad at the ground. I''ve dragged him to a dozen or so games over the last two decades but I think he''s yet to see us play well and is a secretly bemused as to my undying devotion to the club, indeed this was his second visit to the abbey and i''m sure we lost the last one. In my attempt to see rovers win on every league ground this remains one unchecked as the last time we played hear for a midweek win in our relegation season I was stranded in the midlands and despite my best efforts could not find a way to navigate passage to the game and return in time for my work training. It is a ground however etched in my memory for my first visit on a bleak very windy boxing day circa 1991 a 3-1 loss compounded by the police insisting on an 11.30am kick off with the supporters coach having to leave at the crack of sparrows. At least the view of the game had improved with the stand behind the goal having been built since my last visit, this was cold comfort though as the game was a fairly turgid goalless draw. Cambridge had the better of the first half with rovers keeper scotty Davies having to make two saves at the expense of lengthy physio whilst rovers offered nothing in attack. The second half was an improvement with rovers shading play but neither keeper was troubled so my wait for a win here goes on...
