This was THE fixture I looked for when the list came out in June and what a cracking night. Picked D up in a hire car after he finished work and floored it to Villa Park. The largest league attendance I''d seen the bees play in front of (probably soon to be beaten at Newcastle). We got off to a slow start and fell behind at the midway point of the first half. Surprisingly, Villa then took their foot of the gas and started to time waste and play act at every opportunity. We gradually got a foot hold in the game and the second half was all Brentford culminating in Egan''s effort being scrambled over the line by two villa players with 3 to go. We pushed for the winner but time ran out.
