Having spent New year in South Cheshire it was a relitively short journey, driving to the ground with Andrea. The weather was dull/windy and wintery with fine showers throughout most of the match. A Tranmere connection was found through former player Charlie Barnett now plying his trade for the home side, he would drift in and out of the game but had a fine 20 yarder pushed away by the Nuneaton keeper. This was a battle between the bottom two sides in the division with Telford cast well adrift 7 points below in last place. The game itself was a game of two halfs with the visitors the better team in the first period aided by some woeful Telford defending. Ht 0-0, and i was asked to get a half time cupper by Andrea who was feeling the cold, i made a swift break for the queue on the whistle but the canteen girls had a mare with the queue not moving for the first ten minutes of half time, by the time the whistle for the second half began i was third in line but within seconds the unmistakable roar of a goal was heard and my heart sank...as it turned out the goal was disallowed. Apparently a long rang angled shot had been parried with Telford planting the rebound home only for the linesman to disallow the effort for offside. Fortunate in some ways i was still gutted to have missed the main talking point of the match. Generally the half and game as a whole was end to end in an entertaining encounter but their was no denying how much Telford had improved for the second 45 and would have been dissapointed not to claim all three points.
