GROUND HISTORY adapted from "The Ultimate Directory of English & Scottish Football League Grounds"

Preston North End CC moved a few hundred yards east to Deepdale from Moor Park, in 1875 and subsequently used the venue for athletics, football and rugby as well as cricket until 1881 when the club adopted football as its principal activity. Within a few years the facilities included two stands on the west side and uncovered stands on the east side and at the north end.

A 2,500 seat stand was built on the west side in 1906 and further additions included construction of a covered terrace at the south end and, in 1921, an extension to the terracing at the north end. In 1934 a pavilion was erected on the east side and joined at its south end by another pavilion in 1936 to create a stand occupying about two thirds of the pitch length.
In the 1990s work commenced on rebuilding the ground. The west stand was replaced with a 7,960 seat stand in 1996 and the north terraces subsequently removed and replaced with a 6,770 seat stand. In 2001 the south end was removed and a 6,100 seat stand installed giving an all-seat capacity of 22,225 at the start of the 2007/8 season. The pitch size was 110 x 75 yards.
