Did this on way down to Sussex to see Mum. Had an excellent lunch in the Star Anise Art Café in the otherwise pretty crappy town of Stroud. I then took the 63 bus to the ground. Just as well as it is on top a monstrously steep hill.
It was perishing cold and blowing a strong wind but I was wrapped up and prepared. The ground itself is neat and fit for purpose although most of it is uncovered so must be awful in the wet.
Very easy to see why Forest Green had already been relegated. They were dreadful: lacking in skill, fight, speed, desire, whatever. Steve Cotterill is supposed to be a good manager but he shouted a lot and didn''t appear to have done much else with this rag-tag of no hopers. And Notts County were only a little bit less hapless.
On the good side, I was surrounded by very funny people in the stand. All good humour, sardonic wit and fun facts plus not a hint of bad language. I don''t think I have laughed so much at a match for ages.
Left early (blessed release !!!) to walk down the hill and meet Marmot in Nailsworth. Then it was on to our hotel (The Old Bell) in Malmesbury and a jolly good dinner at The Roost.
