GROUND HISTORY adapted from "The Ultimate Directory of English & Scottish Football League Grounds"

Located in the “vee” of Sidegate and Framwellgate Waterside, Durham City moved here from Kepier Haughs in 1923. The small stand, removed from the old ground and re-erected here, was the only spectator accommodation provided during their stay in the Football League which ended in 1928. The record attendance of 7,182 was set at an FA Cup Qualifying Round tie v. West Stanley on September 17th, 1923.

A 2,000 seat stand was completed in 1932 and the stadium was also utilized for greyhound racing which reduced the size of the football pitch and eventually resulted in the demise of the club in 1939. In post war years it was enlarged and continued in use as a Greyhound Stadium but was subsequently demolished, the site being utilized by the Electricity Board.
