The club was elected into the Football League in 1891 and failed to gain re-election in 1899. The match v. Loughborough (1-1) on February 22nd, 1896 (300) was played on the cricket ground due to the football pitch being in an unplayable condition. The club was also involved in Test Matches at the neutral venues of Hyde Road and the Victoria Ground. NB. Some record books show an attendance of 800 for the game against New Brighton Tower on 31st December, 1898. |
