GROUND HISTORY adapted from "The Ultimate Directory of English & Scottish Football League Grounds"
When Heaton Norris FC moved to the site from Wilkes Field in 1889 it was simply an open field but within a year the ground had been enclosed, a small covered stand installed on the west side, an open wooden stand built at the north end and a raised embankment constructed at the south. The ground was located at the rear of the Nursery Inn in Heaton Norris and the changing facilities were provided in a barn on Green Lane.

After the ground was vacated in 1902 Green Lane was used for a while for reserve team fixtures and the occasional first team game before being utilized for housing. The Nursery Inn is still extant and won the CAMRA Pub of the Year Award for 2002.
