GROUND HISTORY adapted from "The Ultimate Directory of English & Scottish Football League Grounds"
The site had been in use for football for many years before Peterborough United FC moved in on their formation in 1934 with the facilities at this time including a 400 seat stand on the north side. The ground was not improved until the 1950s when a short cover was installed at each end, the south side terraced and a new main stand built on the north side.

Following these alterations London Road remained virtually unchanged, apart from extensions to the covering at each end, until the 1990s when the main stand paddock was installed with seats and a new all-seat stand built on the south side.
The record attendance of 30,096 was set at the FA Cup 5th Round tie v. Swansea Town (0-0) on February 20th, 1965 and the capacity, at the start of the 2007/8 season, was 15,314 with 7,669 seats. The pitch size was 112 x 71 yards.

Food & drink
The Palmerston Arms at 82 Oundle Road The range of beer, using several from Bateman's , together with several from the local area as well as two from Manchester (Oldershaw's & Phoenix) and one from Newcastle (Mordue), was superb. It has along with staff that is easy going, pleasant and efficient and the beer is gravity fill and taste better for it. Going there follow the directions to the ground instead of taking a left to the ground take a right into Oundle Road walk past the Cherry Tree to the Palmerston and its 300yards back to the ground.
