Constructed on the site of the Yorkshire Tube Works as part of an urban regeneration scheme, Middlesbrough FC moved to the BT Cellnet Riverside Stadium from Ayresome Park in 1995. The ground, as built, had a continuous cantilever roof covering three single-tier stands and a two-tier cantilever roofed stand on the west side giving an all seat capacity of 29,977. Stands were subsequently constructed in the northwest and south west corners (enclosing the stadium) and by the start of the 2007/8 season the capacity was set at 35,100 and the pitch size was 115 x 75 yards. The record attendance of 35,000 was set at the Euro 2004 Group 7 England v. Slovakia (2-1) International Qualifying Match on June 11th, 2003.
