Again Charlie''s work colleague Ray came up trumps with Brentford tickets so we were in the away end standing rail seats. I travelled down on the train to meet her in Pimlico. A bit to eat in The Swan (local) then underground to Tottenham Hale and a 1.5 mile hike to the ground.
The stadium is utterly absolutely amazingly fabulous. From the outside it looks like a huge alien nest in the midst of houses city houses and shops. But the inside is a cathedral. Four layers a on the sides but with a soaring roof high above. The near us (us) is only three layers but the far end is a truly massive sweeping kop terrace with the illuminated golden Spurs cockerel on the roof top high above. Breathtaking!!! And the noise is sensational from the clever design, the home fans'' terrace rake and the amphitheatre acoustics. Sensational sound system also for the pre-KO show.
Good game. Raucous (foul mouthed) Brentford supporters all around us and a close finish in the end. My favourite song (when the Spurs fans fell quiet for a few moments) was ''doo doo dooo, football in a library'' to the tune of ''C''mon and join the conga''. Made me laugh.
Long walk back to the tube after the match and then straight back to the hotel for a carry-out drink, a packet of hoola hoops and a chat before lights out. What a brilliant way to do ground 90 !!!!!!
