Gillingham arrived 15 minutes late for kick-off having had to charter a plane and then a coach from Blackpool to get to the game following a coach break-down. The game then had to be abandoned after 76 minutes because Holker Street only had training lights, which were not bright enough. The League allowed the result to stand. This was the only League appearance that Gillingham's Billy Jervis made.
