The famous 'game of death'! Hereford bottom of the table needed to win to stay in the league, Brighton on the same points but 1 place above them thanks to goal difference needed a draw. At half-time Hereford were 1 up thanks to a Kerry Mayo own goal and Brighton fans were distraught. In the 2nd half the legend that is Robbie Reinault scored the all-important equaliser capitalising on a rebound after Craig Maskell's shot came back off a post. Brighton were saved and Hereford condemned to non-league football.
