This was the 2nd game of a double header, having left St Andrews drove across town in good time and arrived at the stadium 15mins before ko. Parked up at the ground in a designated car park and made the way round to the main end stand. £16.50 to get in on the turnstile. This match more than made up for the earlier anticlimatic derby match. Jon Macken formerly of City was upfront for Walsall and did look a level above holding up the ball well. Walsall were lucky not to have theie keeper sent off when he clearly handled outside the box as the last man, for some reason the ref only gave a yellow? The game was played at a frantic pace and Walsall took the lead when Macken brought the ball down turned and struck a great shot into the corner. Both sides had chances in an end to end first half before Walsall scored again to go 2-0 up. They had a couple of other chance after this and could easily of gine in 4 up. The 2nd half was again end to end with both teams squandering chances. Bournemouth got a goal back but Walsall were still creating chances and surely had to score more. As the game came to towards its conclusion Bournemouth kept putting more pressure on which was resisted well. However Walsall were sloppy and rather than run time out kept giving possession away. This eventually killed them when they gave the ball away again and Bournemouth broke and scored with virtually the last kick in the 4th minute of stoppage time to make it 2-2. Fantastic game, how Walsall didn''t win though I will never know. Made the way out of the car park and had to sit in a queue for half an hour to get back on to the M6 even though it was only a stones throw away. Got home in very good time after a brief stop at Cambridge services where Craig ate his body weight in fast food. A good little double header and got there and back on a full tank of fuel (£38) so happy days. My 9th game since xmas day!
