Train from Crewe and a short taxi rise to the ground. Bright sunshine but chilly. Had lunch in the Legends Lounge at the Darwen Road end. Excellent lounge. Big and spacious with windows onto the pitch along the whole of one wall. Very good food (choice of carved ham or curry - we both ahd the former) and nice little bar with happy and proficient staff. The ground itself is nothing fancy but perfectly fit for purpose. The stands on 3 side are simply constructed but do the job and give a great view of the action. The forth side (the Riverside stand) is old and small and so seems to allow the atmostphere to leak away out of the arena (if that makes sense). With only 14 thousand at this match maybe I am being a little harsh. We sat in the Jack Walker stand which has good seats, good wide acccess concourse below the stand and the best toilets in football (even better than new Wembley !!) Bravo. Football entertaining but the draw seemed somehow inevitable. I was impressed by the Birmingham lad Ravel Morrison. Will be interesting to see how he goes in future. As the light faded into the second half the temperature dropped like a stone. We didn''t get properly warm again until we got home in front of the fire. Another excellent day out. Fun fun fun fun fun (and a few medicinal Jack Daniels along the way)
