The Baggies second away game of the season meant a trip to the Carrow Road home of Norwich City. Having already lost their opening home game 2-1 to Bolton Wanderers, who survived relegation last season on the final day, and drawing in their midweek game away to Forest, it would be interesting to see if Albion could bounce back after two fairly average performances. Back in the 70''s I had a bit of a soft spot for Norwich probably due to the yellow and green kit and, being a bit of a goalkeeper at school Kevan Keelan was a particular favourite of mine. Graham Paddon, who was the first player I remember seeing score from a free kick on MOTD and his strike partner David Cross were other favourites. Both eventually sold to West Ham. Carrow Road is a fair old trek from the Midlands, about 180 miles, so it was an early start. Arriving in Norwich we parked up in the County Hall car park and took the ten minute walk, which included crossing over the picturesque River Yare with its swans and castle ruins, to the ground. // End of Season :- Norwich City finished as Champions on 94 points and were promoted to the Premier League along with Sheffield United on 89 points. Albion finished 4th on 80 points and play Aston Villa (5th/ 76 pts) in the play offs. Leeds United (3rd/ 83 pts) will play Derby County (6th/ 74 pts) Relegated were Rotherham United, Bolton Wanderers and Ipswich Town. (Bolton will start League One with a 12 points deduction after financial problems)
Rhodes missed penalty at 1-1. Bad error from Krul for second WBA goal
