Exciting game. Very enjoyable. Wrexham 3rd in table with Stevenage 15th, and the lowest scorers in the whole division. Surely only one winner with Wrexham unbeaten at home for ten months? As it happens Stevenage were very very good on the night and at HT their 2-0 lead could have been a 4-0 lead. After the break Wrexham flew into tackles and showed a bullying physicality not seen in the 1st half, with sub Mullin being the ''agent provocateur'' - no surprise there, and Fletcher literally slapping his marker in the face. They pressed hard for 15 minutes and got a goal back, though it looked like a handball or two by Wrexham. The next 20 minutes saw Stevenage steady things down, defending comfortably, with Wrexham looking short of creative ideas. Stevenage then scored the goal of the game from an incisive passing move with Kemp calmly setting up Reid to score with aplomb. Then a well-judged cross by Lee from a free-kick found Cleworth''s head to make it 2-3 on 89 minutes. Mullin spent more time in the ref''s face than in the opposition penalty area. He had a decent long-range effort near the end, but his overall contribution was below par, as was the case with several of his teammates. I didn''t realise Dobson was playing at all until I saw later that he had played the whole game! For Stevenage Piergianni, Sweeney and Freestone were all very good in defence. However, the diminutive Dan Kemp was outstanding. A gem. Easily the Man of the Match, for me. Liked the stadium apart from the open end with no cover for the fans on a very rainy night. I was with the away fans in a cosy and roofed corner of the upper tier of the Wrexham Lager Stand. Only 250 fans travelled but were loud. Anyhow it was a miserable rainy night in North Wales, a long way to travel. Stewarding wasn''t great. There were a lot of them but they allowed the visiting fans to stand throughout the game, denying many fans the chance to watch the game in comfort. One of them stood throughout, blocking the view of the goal at the far end!! I had to change seats to be able to see the game properly. I went into the famed Turf pub before the match. Very busy even 2 hours before kick-off. Lots of memorabilia, half of it seemed to be lionising Ryan Reynolds and his Hollywood actor pal McElhenny. There was even a mock Stained Glass window of Deadpool and Wolverine! At least the pub acknowledges that without them Wrexham would still be in the National League, though the fans hate to be reminded of this.
