Match no. 1169. The kick-off was delayed by 15 minutes from the scheduled time of 19.45 due to the Sheffield United coach getting stuck in traffic on the way to the ground. A fairly dull game in which Spurs struggled to break down the well-organised United defence, although the Blades never threatened to score themselves. The decision to play Harry Kane wide on the left with Adebayor up front was mystifying as it effectively negated Kane''s influence while Adebayor was totally anonymous. It took Pochettino 65 minutes to realise this - that was when Adebayor was replaced by Soldado, who at least caused the handball in the area that won Spurs the penalty from which Townsend scored the only goal. The 2nd leg ended 2-2 so Spurs went through to the Final 3-2 on aggregate where they lost 2-0 to Chelsea.

Sheff United were tough to break down. Strange team selection for Spurs at the beginning. Townsend scored a penalty. United support very good. Cheeseburger 7/10
