Match no. 723. This was the first of two seasons in which West Ham wore their worst-ever home shirt - a Bukta-produced monstrosity that was claret with light blue and white lines on the shoulders and sleeves. It was apparently meant to resemble a baseball-kit. It also had an ugly sponsors logo for BAC Windows that was far too big. I actually felt compelled to write to the club and complain. They replied to tell me that it was the biggest selling item in the club shop. So that was ok then.
