One off the most entertaining games and up there in my hall off fame list !! It was Easter Monday and again Blues could do with 3 points to stay away from the relegation zone, another win and there would not be much work left to do as premiership football next season was almost guaranteed !! Fletch and Jimmy had a couple of pints by the ground before then headed to the match !! The game began and to say Blues battered Southampton in the first half was a understaintment, Dugarry was magnificant, Southampton could not get near him, he created chance after chance for Blues !! Blues must have made 9 or 10 chances in the first half but went in a goal behind as Svensson squeezed a header home after 26 minutes to put the saints in front completely against the run off play !! In to the second half and again it was all Birmingham but it toon until the 75th minute to find a way through, Dugarry took a quick free kick which hit the wall and was ordered to take it again, he didnt need a second chance and curled the ball around the wall and in to the bottom corner, a supurb strike, one all !! Just minutes later though, again against the run off play Southampton went back in front a ball over the top and Ormerod smashed home to put the saints back in front !! Within minutes though Blues where level again Geoff Horsefield played a brilliant ball with the outside off his foot to Hughes who volleyed home from the edge of the box, another great strike from Hughes, two all, what a game !!! The drama wasn't finishes as three minutes later a cross to the back post was headed in from Dugarry to put Blues 3-2 in front !! Blues held on for a excellent three points !! Fletch was well happy as he had put £2 on 3-3 to Blues at 28/1 so had had a good days work !! The lads went to loaf bar for a few beers to celebrate a excellent win for both Blues and Fletch !!
