Strange situation this one. When Tranmere played in the mercentile credit games at Wembley in 1987 they were located next to the sunderland fans and we went down a storm with them when we beat their arch rivals Newcastle. Apparently some frendships were formed and we offered some of their fans free tickets to our friday night game against Fulham the day before they played Liverpool at Anfield they reciprocated by giving us free tickets to this game to which we took a double decker. We got some strange looks Tranmere fans getting off the coach to a game with most of the fans of the participating teams knowing nothing about the goings on! Think don goodman got one of the goals with Gabbiadini scoring for Sunderland. Also remember going in an old programme shop near the ground and hunting for old rovers progs when i did find one v Darlington from the early 80''s the guys running the shop wanted much more than it was worth so a waste of time.
