Not a great birthday present! One of the handful of matches that my wife has attended!

Match no. 255. First visit to Leeds Road. Went up on the football special train and got talking to a Hammers fan, an elderly gent, who had a spare seat ticket which he kindly let me have. Had a 3-course lunch in a restaurant on the way to the ground: soup, main course and dessert, all for 50 pence! Had high hopes for the Hammers in the FA Cup this year but they were taken apart by Huddersfield who played brilliantly despite being bottom of the First Division and on their way to relegation. Frank Worthington was outstanding. He terrorised the Hammers defence by running at them with the ball and they couldn''t do anything to stop him. He scored one himself (70) and set up the other three for Jimmy Lawson (23), Terry Dolan (51) and David Smith (68).
