Went with Dad and left home at about 17:10 to meet Mum so she could take Joseph home and we could go on. We met Mum and we got on the tube at about 17:35 ish. Got the nothern line to Waterloo and then got on a Jubilee line to Stratford. The walk from Staratford to the ground was a pain as they diverted you all over the place to avoid Westfield. We got the the ground at about 18:45 ish and we went in the club shop and I bought badge and programme binder. Then had some food before we went into the ground. 1st half wasn''t a great spectacle and West Ham didn''t really turn up. Once they went 1-0 down, West Ham completely went for it and it was a very entertaining 2nd half. During the 2nd half a fight broke out in the section to the right and the stewards did nothing to stop it. West Ham continued to throw everything at Astra''s goal but didn''t score which ended their European campaign. Let the ground at about 21:40 and walked back to Stratford station with a huge crowd of people. When we got to the station we ran to get the 22:00 overground train which took us to Highbury & Islington. We then got on the Victoria line to Stockwell and the nothern line back to Tooting Broadway which was completely packed somehow. We then got the 333 back home and got back at about 23:00 ish.

First visit to West Ham in the Olympic Stadium, though I had seen a rugby league international there in November. Managed to get a decent seat in the lower tier, near a corner.
Beautiful stadium, but most fans are too far from the pitch.
West Ham team missing Carroll, Ayew, Sakho, Payet, Lanzini, Feghouli, Cresswell through injury, plus Masuaku cup-tied. To cap it off Bilic rested Captain Mark Noble!
Opponents Astra had dropped down from Champions League (reigning Champions of Romania) but were seriously unfancied.
Good atmosphere, but a disappointing performance, albeit from a very understrength team. Plenty of chances created: Calleri on his first start should have had a hat-trick. Former West Brom midfielder, Filipe Teixeira scored the only goal on a counter-attack, following a poor pass from Byram. Desperately disappointing result.
