Although no map that shows the ground exists, it is known that the site was located at Derby Turn, north of the town centre, between Derby Road and the railway sidings and that it also hosted athletic meetings. As early maps of the area indicate only one suitably sized field it is assumed that this was the site of the ground. There was an adjacent clubhouse, probably one of the buildings shown, but details of any other facilities are not known.
The record attendance, for which temporary stands were installed, was 6,000 for the FA Cup 2nd Round match against Notts County (1-2) on February 10th, 1894. When Burton Wanderers FC vacated the ground upon amalgamation with Burton Swifts FC in 1901, the Midland Railway acquired most of the site to extend their Dixie Sidings.
