Comments :
This game was border line on whether I wanted to travel so far for a neutral game but Ghout and I decided we'd go for it- Ghout drove and considering his rep of driving I was concerned I'd ever make it home. To make the journey north a touch more interesting we decided to go via snake pass between Sheffield and Manchester, which was as picturesque as usual - Bomber's 1st example of dodgy driving shown through, with him stalling the car three times in traffic in no less than a mile. We arrived on the outskirts of Manchester in good time so decided to go and have a look round the Trafford Centre for an hour, which was packed !! We got to Oldham at 14:30 and went straight into the ground, which reminded me like Selhurst Park from the outside and one of the stands like Ninian Park inside. Ground had onlhy three sides and was empty. We sat right next to the dug outs within distance of hearing Dickov's and Pescisoldido's profanity/passion. Shefki Kuqi played up front for Oldham and was a class above the rest, along with a Robbie Simpson, on loan from Huddersfield, pulling the strings in the middle. Game could not have started better for the Latics, with a Burton player wiping out a player who was clean through = penalty and a straight red card. Kuqi tucked it away, 10 mins later another pen, which Kuqi this time had saved. Simpson scored a free kick which was carried into the goal by the keeper and then another scored before half an hour had been played. Thinking it was going to be a landslide score, Burton did put their stamp on the game and started to pass around a bit and got the goal they deserved in the 2nd half. Trip home was just as quick as the one there but by goodness we were famished in the end, as bomber kept missing the exits for the services and we finally stopped at Peterborough for dinner and after a crunching of the gearbox we got home... in conclusion Leeeeeeeeeeeeee's driving was pretty good.

Went to this game with Hibs. First time just us 2 had gone to a game together, but this was a good opportunity to catch up 1 on the others. I drove and we made good time on the way up there and went accross the scenic snake pass enroute. Got to Manchester early so rather than head straight to Oldham we decided to pop into the Trafford centre for a look round. Wasn''t really that impressed with the place to be honest. Headed to Oldham and parked up with a short walk to the ground which was a bit of a throwback and could do with some up dating! Game was very entertaining. Burton gave away a penalty and had a man sent off in just the 3rd minute which Shefki kuqi put away. A 2nd penalty was conceeded but missed a few minutes later. Oldham had a cracking midfielder called Simpson who was on loan from Huddesfield and he along with Kuqi (who was clearly from a higher level) ran the show. It wasn''t long before Burton were 3 down and you were starting to think how many they would get. The game slowed down in the 2nd half but credit to the Burton fans who really got behind their team. Burton got a goal back in the 2nd half so it finished 3-1. Notable was the fact the ground had no dug outs and sitting behind where they would of been you could see every reaction from the 2 managers Paul Dickov (Oldham) and Paul Peschosolido(Burton). Journey back was ok until Hibs got hungry and kept moaning about food, to be fair though I did accidently drive past 2 lots of services and ended up pretty starving myself when we finally stopped. Made it home in good time and all in all a good trip and a nice 1 of the list
