Comments :
Fine sunny day, Eve dropped me at Hayes station for the 9.48 to Ldn Bridge, Jubilee to Stratford, and 10.55 to Braintree, arr 11.50 (fare £8.50). Walked to town, and went in cafe for omelette and tea. Then to old town centre with lots of stalls in the road. Ended up in the museum (Crittall windows made here, Capt Oates was local). Found the ground about 20 mins away. £10 OAP rate £2 prog, and paid an extra £1 to sit in the stand, and was joined by a group of Forest Green Rovers fans, my neighbour going to every match with his wife home and away. We have a lady referee for the game and she has a good game, including sending a Braintree player off toward the end of the first half, and dealing with the melee. Largely a kick and rush game, but 6 goals means there were some bright moments. The bright low sun, gave way to darkness after half time but it wasn''t cold. Walked back to the station having missed the hourly train by 10mins. Walked back up to town and went in The Picture Palace, a Wetherspoons pub, where they were showing Swansea v Man Utd on a big screen above the bar, where I resisted a beer for a J2O. Left the pub at 17.50 with Man U one up to go back to the station for the 18.00. Stratford at 18.52 on to Jubilee to get to Ldn Br for the 19.25 to Hayes, and walked home by 20.15. Eve got my tea ready for me, after a good day out
