After being criticised for writing long reports for the non-league games I have attended, I dedicate this report to a certain friend of mine.....enjoy! I Went to this game on my own on a Saturday afternoon. My ex Needham Cricket team mate plays in Goal for Debenham and I had been meaning to get along and see him play for a while. Ground was hidden behing the leisure centre and after struggling to actually get in found a neat if very basic little set up with a couple of tiny stands. Apparently game only just passed a pitch inspection, the pitch was very muddy but football was actually quite good. A dodgy penalty given by the shocking referee allowed Halstead to open the scoring against the run of play. Debenham equalised with a goal that was surely offside. My mate was good in goal, his kicking exceptional for the level picking out his intended targets on a regular basis. Half time went quick and it was exceptionally cold watching the 2nd half. Debenham went ahead only to be pegged back soon after, my mate slipped which didn''t help and presented the Halstead striker with pretty much an open goal. Debenham had been the better side throughout and their right winger was the stand out player. Justice was done with the result when Debenham scored a winner with not long to go. Was glad when the full time whistle went as was freezing by that point. Straight into my car and heating up to hear the full time scores in the Prem. Home in just 20 minutes and enjoyed the trip and another one of my extended list.
