After an hours journey from the earlier game I attended at Diss, I got to Lowestoft an hour before kick off. Found the ground but the area was a bit run down with not much around so decided to head into town for a wander. Found a Ladbrokes and stuck a few bets on the busy boxing day programme. Had a nice win of £37 on a £1 stake for 3 draws...which was nice. Headed back to the ground about 20 mins before ko and was lucky to find a street parking spot only a minute or so walk away. Went into the ground (£10 entry) and found a seat in the main stand almost on the half way line. Ground wasn''t great at all, quite run down and surrounded very closely by houses in what was clearly a run down area. The game was very well attended and a very good atmosphere came through. With this being a local(ish) derby there was a real intensity to the game. The challenges were flying in hard all afternoon. Bury took the lead in the first half against the run of play. Bury had there keeper to thank for a couple of spectacular saves to keep them ahead at half time. We decided to go behind the goal for the 2nd half which was an extremely feisty period. All afternoon it had looked like things could kick off and they really did. Bury had a player sent off for a elbow (straight red) and then not long after coming on their substitute made a horror tackle and also received a straight red. Surely one of the worse tackles I have ever seen live, the lad jumped in two footed with studs raised, the ref really had no choice. Lowestoft had already equalised by this stage and it was obvious there was only going to be one winner after Bury went down to 9. With the intense atmosphere Lowestoft''s winner led to mental celebrations from their players. Throughly enjoyed this game and the atmosphere and passion showed by both teams.
