My 3rd game in 2 days. With nothing else on and wanting to keep busy over the Christmas period I went to this game as it was the only one in the local league. Drove 35mins to Long Melford arrived 5 mins before this 1pm Kick off. No sooner had the game kick off than Melford took the lead almost straight away, sloppy defending left the keeper stranded and despite saving initially the follow up was put into the empty net. Within seconds of the restart the vistiors could have scored but were unfortunate to strike the post. The game was fairly well tempered but the home side were much the better team, superior strength and size meaning they won everything in the air. In particular the home sides big centre forward stood out, he held the ball up exceptionally well and took Melford 2nd goal really well when he lifted it into the empty net from 18 yards out as the keeper advanced out. Cornard were better in the 2nd half and tried to pass more but were hit again on the counter attack and found themselves 3-0 down. A consolation goal did come however when a very dodgy looking penalty was awarded near the end which was nicely converted. All in all a reasonable little local trip. Ground was not up to much at all really though with just 1 tiny stand and garden type fencing most of the way round that was falling down in many places.
