Was going to just watch this down the pub, but I hadnt been to game for a good 5 weeks and decided on the spur of the moment to head down for this FA cup game. Had to quickly finish off an assignment and wait for the library to open to print it off before I could start my journey.
Got into London and went to one of the 'attractions' that I like to do, whenever I go to London. Caught the 3rd round draw before making my way to the game, an away game at Doncaster if we won, hardly the glamour tie you dream of.
Ground was as tinpot as you can get, was fully expected though. The toilets resembled an outdoor loo in a back garden from decades ago and no covering or anything. Was absolutely freezing, as it was a late kick off, id managed to sneak some of the good stuff in which warmed me up at regular intervals.
The day was one for the Sutton fans really, 3 and half thousand of them crammed in as a sellout then 200 odd County fans scattered around, with room for probably 15 times more than that.
With the cameras there, the late kick-off and everything else, felt like we'd slip on our banana skin, but fortunately we didnt. Rode our luck though with it staying 1-0 til very late and Stuart Nelson saving another penalty. The win also meant my acca was a winner which paid for the trip.
Memorable moments - Nelsons penalty save. Seeing Martin Keown and John Barnes up close.
