Comments :
First ever game. Terry Paine scored with a header in the season Saints got promoted to the top tier for the first time. Hooked as a Saints supporter - come rain or rain! On the day actually Rotherham were the better side. The Dell for all its faults was a wonderfully idiosyncratic and atmospheric ground. St Marys never compared for all its additional comforts. When cranked up the atmosphere and the close proximity of supporters could intimidate the best.
