In the middle of an excellent weekend away in Carlisle (I like it).
Nice little old-style ground tucked away on the edge of town although the lights leave a bit to be desired. But an entertaining match with plenty of spirit. The blanket was useful second half (bloomin' cold). Nice bar (Sunset Suite) and pleasant friendly people with the lovely Cumbrian accent (like a soft Geordie).
Funny, though, listening tot he women behind us chatting through the match about slow cooking lamb, the telly they watched the previous night and a piece about getting a phone call from somebody she'd just been tlaking about. The phone rang and the voice said, 'oooo 'ello' and it was 'im!!! Hilarious
Almost forgot Olga the Fox mascot (Olga is an anagram of goal) who brought a stuffed fox (presumably also called Olga) onto the pitch before kick off. Oh yes, and the scary cheerleaders who more by luck than skill left the field without the need for stretchers after their routine. A couple of them looked like they'd only just joined that afternoon.
Then a 15 minute walk back into town for cocktails with Mumsie. Brilliant !!!!
