As a Chelsea fan I was gutted this match was not to be played at Wembley however it gave me the opportunity to visit a new ground in Villa Park as I had already visited Wembley with Cambridge United. I was in Nottingham from the summer so took the coach to Birmingham and then the train to the ground. I was very impressed with the ground inside and out and the atmosphere that both sets of supporters were able to produce. I was disappointed however at the fact that Chelsea failed to sell out our allocation. This game also gave me the rare claim to fame of seeing Fernando Torres score a Chelsea goal live as he gave Chelsea the lead just before Half-Time. However a harsh red-card on Branislav Ivanovic totally changed the game from then on and City began to dominate. 3 goals in 12 minutes from Yaya Toure, Tevez and Nasri won the game for City with a late Ryan Bertrand strike for Chelsea proving too little too late. A very enjoyable day out despite the result and an equally impressive stadium to match.
