Skrill South 21st Dec 2013 Staines Town Louie Theophanous 7', 30' 2- 2 Att: 284 Dover Athletic Nathan Elder 53', Barry Cogan 79' (pen) Staines Town: Jack Turner, Sanchez Ming, Luke Neville, Stephane Ngamvoulou, Chris M'Boungou, Jerel Ifil, Ashley Lodge, Louie-Rae Beadle, Louie Theophanous, Dan Brown, Max Worsfold. Unused subs: Oluwole Akinsanya, Kyle Merson, Bajram Pashaj, Lewis Ferrell, Erivaldo Felix. Dover Athletic: Mitch Walker, Craig Stone, Richard Orlu, Chris Kinnear Jnr, Sean Raggett, Terrell Forbes, Liam Bellamy, James Rogers, Nathan Elder, Barry Cogan, Tom Murphy. Unused subs: Elliott Charles, Michael Bakare, Michael Kamara, Brian Woodall, Lee Hook. DOVER STAGE COMEBACK AT WHEATSHEAF But now three league games without a win By Kieran Dodd Dover Athletic recovered from a poor start to claim their first Skrill South point in three games at Wheatsheaf Park. Louie Theophanous' brace saw Staines take control before goals from Nathan Elder and Barry Cogan sealed a draw for Whites. Chris Kinnear stuck with the same side that were defeated by Eastleigh at Crabble on Tuesday night. The only change in the squad occurred on the bench with goalkeeper Lee Hook replacing on-loan midfielder Lee Sawyer who has recently signed a contract with Sutton United. Dover had the first chance on a Wheatsheaf surface which didn't require a pitch inspection following many Skrill South games getting postponed due to the fierce weather. Tom Murphy collected a Nathan Elder flick on but volleyed first time against the outside of the post. But it was the home side who took the lead following a bright opening 5 minutes for Dover. Staines raced through the left flank before Louie Theophanous tapped in the first of his two goals to put Swans ahead. Louie Theophanous made it 2-0 to Staines on the half-hour mark following some poor defending from the otherwise reliable Dover's back line, who had acres of time and made no mistake by shooting past Mitch Walker. Despite the setback, Whites recovered and sustained pressure on the hosts for the rest of the game and would have been only one goal behind at the break if it wasn't for Sean Raggett's header getting ruled out for what appeared to be a handball inside the area. The second half proved to be a game of two halves as Whites were much better and probably could have gone on to win the game if it wasn't for poor finishing and superb goalkeeping by Swans keeper Jack Turner, who superbly denied Nathan Elder in the first half. But Nathan Elder finally found his luck in the second half after registering only his second league goal of the season to remedy this surprising statistic. Elder collected a pass from the left hand side and superbly fired past Jack Turner on the turn to give Dover hope. Whites almost found the equaliser just four minutes later when Sean Raggett received a superb delivery from James Rogers but was denied by an excellent save from the impressive Jack Turner. Dover were controversially denied a penalty when Nathan Elder was pulled down inside the area but were gifted a softer decision just five minutes later when Elder fell down inside the area. Barry Cogan stepped up to send Jack Turner the wrong way and put his side level with just over ten minutes of normal time remaining from the game. Chris Kinnear will be pleased with the side's comeback but will almost certainly criticise his squad's sloppy defending in the first half which allowed Louie Theophanous to put Staines two up after only just 30 minutes. Whites' next fixture is a festive Boxing Day fixture against Kent rivals Tonbridge Angels which will be segregated on advice from Kent Police. Until then, we would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas!
