| Bizarre game. Missed the first 15 minutes due to abysmal crowd control to enter the stadium, by which time Lens (without a win in 5 games) led PSG 1-0. Pitch appeared to be heavy and started to cut up.
PSG, missing 6 first choice players, including Ibrahimovic, David Luiz and Thiago Silva, lacked co-ordination in attack, making numerous misplaced passes.
The equaliser was a very good first time effort from 25 yards by Johan Cabaye. Then came the goal of the match, a sublime 40 yard chip from Brazilian full-back Maxwell.
Around the hour mark we had a crazy five minutes: a dodgy penalty is awarded against Lens, dive by Cavani, conversion by Cavani. Meanwhile the Lens defender gets a 2nd yellow and gets sent off. Cavani celebrates his goal too much in front of the Lens 'home' fans, gets yellow carded, protests his innocence to the referee a bit too physically, gets second yellow. Does not leave the field for about two minutes. Then leaves then comes back on again, then eventually goes off! OK ten-a-side.
A couple of minutes later another Lens player gets a yellow card (for not much of a foul), and it's his second too, so off he goes for his early bath. 9 v 10 with over half an hour still to play!! The rest is pretty much going through the motions.
This was a Lens home match, switched to Paris Stade de France because their regular ground is being redeveloped for Euro 2016. My ticket, albeit for a seat up in the Gods, only cost me £14. Given the huge attendance this ground switch (from usual temporary ground at Amiens) looks like a good decision, at least financially. Lens will play at least two more home matches at the Stade.
