Match no. 1145. This game was played on the back pitch at WPSC. The main pitch within the running track was not yet marked out for football and athletics training was taking place there. There was no admission fee charged or programme produced. The match was played in 3 periods of 30 minutes each. For the first period Hertford played in a change kit of yellow shirts and black shorts and there was no score. For the second period Hertford substituted an entirely different team, mainly youngsters and wearing red shirts, and they scored once to lead 1-0. For the third period the first Hertford team, in yellow, re-took the field and their superior skill, fitness and stamina really took effect and they scored 4 times without reply to win the match 5-0. With no floodlights on the back pitch, by the time the game finished at 9.25pm it was getting very dark!
