Travelled on the official supporters coach slightly concerned about the weather and hitting the M25 but these concerns proved unfounded. We left prenton park in torrential rain but arrived around half six with no major delays. I had done a reccie on the ground the back end of last season on my way to a game at Barnet so thought i new what to expect however the night would prove to be a night of choices. On arriving we found everyone at the ground friendly and helpfull, the first choice was to decide which kiosk within the ground to eat with two traditional burger vans in opposite corners of the ground offering a decent selection of food including bacon and cheese burgers, the quaintly named moaners corner cafe offering chocolate covered doughnuts and drinks or the fish and chip shop set up under the largest stand in the ground, however with the later at nearly £8 i ruled this option out. Wokings programme was a lot better than most we have come across in the division this season and having been on there website earlier in the season the Woking tv channel is excellent offering extended free highlights(although how many rovers fans would want to re-live tonights nightmare is questionable). The next decision was where to watch the match from as the game was deemed not to require segragation, most rovers fans had seemed somewhat sheepish and generally congregated on the covered terrace just inside the turnstyles but with Tranmere kicking towards the far end you would have expected them to have changed ends but most remained routed to the same spot, whilst some watched from the open side terrace and others sat in the big stand behind the opposite goal....talk about divide and conquer!!!!!! Personally view has always been key to me with the halfway line normally my prefered option however at away games you don''t normally have options and when penned in one section i''m happy to join in with the singing. First half tonight i sat behind the goal we were attacking and second half i opted for my favoured halfway view. As for the game rovers started brightly with Harris beating half a dozen Woking players staight from kick-off with a direct run unfortunatley taking a heavy touch whilst trying to beat his last defender allowing the clearence. The game changed arround the 15 minute mark as an excellent through ball gave Jennings the perfect 1 on 1 but his shot was directly at the keeper. A few minutes later Jennings seemed to bottle a 50/50 ball midway in our half with the winning player producing a fine through ball which was headed home. Tranmere had an effort correctly ruled out for offside before Davies spilled a shot at the other end with two unmarked Woking players chasing the option of the tap in. The mid section of the game was mostly Woking with Tranmere being poor. Our fans had largely gone quite but theirs where finding their voices although their was a bit of light harted banter between the two sets of fans standing next to each other behind the goal. Mekki was subbed with Sutton coming on with the expected response of you dont know what your doing. Wokings third followed another defencive error and the fourth on the counter with a free run from the halfway line. Tranmere embarassed by their collapse did press at the end, Norwood missed a sitter before Taylor Fletcher crashed a shot against the bar but Woking should have had another as Davies had his own 1 on 1 to save plus an excellent follow up save. Rovers did however score the best goal of the night with a 20 yard curler from Norwood finding the bottom corner in added time, scant consolation however for the superwhite army who arrived back at prenton park at 2am.
