I recall at the time going to this match with my devout Cobblers supporting mate Chris Gedge and thinking what a terrible ground it was. We stood with a rope dividing us from the pitch and i recall that the game was so bad that the ball came out of play were we were standing and a bloke in his mid fifties picked the ball up muttered something about how bad the game was and hoofed the ball onto the Northampton CC Cricket pitch. A steward tiptoed onto the Cricket wicket as though no one waqs watching to retrieve the ball. This was the highlight !!!. Have the programme but looking for home ticket stub for cobblers for that season.
