Emily came with me today (but Daniel was working) and we were hoping for a goalfest after the Bees trounced Bournemouth 6-0 the previous Tues in the Piss Pot Cup (JPT).
The Bees got off to a flyer with Sam Saunders curling in a Free Kick on 10 mins past ex Bee Ashley Bayes.
Unfortunately, that was as good as it got as Brentford seemed to lose any purpose to their game. Basingstoke sensed they could get something as the second half progressed and in the end were unlucky not to snatch an equaliser but this was a game that would've been dead and buried by half time had we shown any sort of commitment after the goal.
The ref today was Toma Masaaki from the J-League and FIFA listed on an exchnage programme for a few weeks. He did well, not taking notice of any play acting. We could see a couple of cultural differences with some not given free kicks.
