| At this point, Winchester City were in serious financial difficulties. Bottom of the table, they were in such a state that the power had been cut off and the snack bar and club shop were both shut. Had it not been for a committee takeover, with money raised by the fans, and the intervention of Dave Malone and Paul Murray, the club would most likely have folded and ended up on the scrap heap.
