A red letter day for me!! The match was played at Plymouth as Man Utd were ordered by UEFA to play their next home tie at least 250 miles from Old Trafford following an outbreak of crowd trouble. Realistically that only left Aberdeen or Plymouth in the UK. I worked at Exeter Airport at this time and was Secretary of my local club.The Devon County FA asked if I could officially welcome the two teams to Devon when their aircraft landed at Exeter. United arrived first and St Etienne an hour later. My reward was match tickets ! Incredible!!
