An 8 goal thriller at The Victoria Ground saw City pick up their first 3 points of the season, and after all the negative reports I'd received this was a real goal-fest with some pretty awful defending thrown in.
The game started with Alfreton taking the lead in the 5th minute through Samuel Smith. A Westcarr effort had an unfortunate richochet straight in to Smith's path and he finished past Ross.
Worcester equalised through Lee Hughes in the 17th minute. The veteran striker, left in acres of space, shot past Spiess in the Alfreton goal.
City then took the lead 9 minutes later as Junior English thundered home a header from Cieron Keane's corner, (the previous 2 corners had been dreadful) in the 25th minute.
Alfreton were first to score in the second half, more poor defending allowed Tom Allan to head past Ross from a Todd Jordan free-kick. Colby Bishop was then controversially introduced in the 69th minute and made an instant impact. The young striker put City back in to the lead only 2 minutes later after Chekaine Steele burst in to the box, his pass found Bishop who turned and shot coolly past the keeper. Two minutes later Bishop scored again, with a thumping strike past Spiess in to the bottom left. Lee Hughes added the icing to the cake by curling a wonderful effort in to the top corner.
Even then, City could not see it out and Liam Hearn pounced on some loose defending to claim a consolation for the visitors in the 94th minute.
