At a time when much of the south-east was covered in ice and snow, Queens Park Rangers were able to put on a match when none of the other London clubs could because their plastic pitch could be cleared so much quicker than a grass pitch. Notts. County were not high-profile visitors to Loftus Road but were probably as glad to have a match to play as their hosts with much of the Football League programme wiped out by the bad weather.
