TOTAL VISITS 2. TRANMERE VISITS 1 W1 D0 L0 GF4 GA3. OTHER GAME V TAMWORTH 2011. Wow where did this come from? Travelled up by coach, sat in segragated seats -the''W''in the main stand as show in the above picture. Tranmere were the better team in the first half with lots of chances created, it wasnt too long before we had the ball in the net with Jennings and Tomlinson combining well the deflected shot bobbling over the line just out of reach of the keeper but incredably was ruled out for offside??! to say this seemed an incorrect decision puts it mildly but shortly afterwards we went ahead from the penalty spot after a clumsy barge from behind from Barrow defender(and former Tranmere youth player) Ashton. The home side did test Davies with a 20yard shot which was tipped around the post at full strength and they forced a succession of corners up to the halftime whistle but it was 0-1 ht. Whilst the second half didn''t start with the same gusto we still looked more than comfortable 20 minutes in in fact right up to their equaliser on 67 mins which came from nothing, two players were at the dead ball line with the rovers player clearing the ball but as it went upfield my peripharal vision caught something between the two players i was told it was jennings who had a bit of afters and a penalty was awarded. Very soft and a moments indicipline could have proved so costly 1-1. A mad goalmouth scamble ensued at the other end but somehow the Barrow keeper kept us out and produced several impressive saves before the end of the game but Barrow went ahead after an attack was half cleared a hooked ball landed perfectly to the right winger with rovers defeders caught flat footed and his cross was headed home. Thus started some discontent within the Rovers fans and Brabin standing yards in front of the seated away section was subjected to a barage of abuse which increased ten fold as the home side increadably went 3-1 up in the 86th minute with a number of fans leaving some unvolentary! Brabin had brought Stockton and Kirby on and a great strike from Maynard appeared a mere consolation and i thought about those fans who had missed it. Five minutes of added time were then added with Hughes rounding the keeper on 92 to level, this was a strange feeling we had looked likely to win 1-0 for the majority of the game thrown it away for a 3-1 defeat, clawed it back to get a point which was both a relief but also disappointment to only get a point from a game we deserved to win on balance of play....Yet increadible their was to be a winner as Kirbys deflected shot in the last minute of added time made it 3-4. Rovers have given us many a rollercoaster ride but nothing so dramatic for many a year increadable.
