TOTAL VISITS 1. TRANMERE VISITS PLD1 W1 D0 L0 GF3 GA0. Travelled South on friday night to stay with familly in rugby, the M56 was closed as a lorry had gone through the central reservation so a detour via the A51 was required. My brother and i arrived at the ground around 1pm and grabbed some food outside the ground as they had a set up outside the social club serving pies and fries with a few covered seats. News filtered through of a lorry fire on the M6 which was causing chaos for sections of the away travellers but two coaches arrived okay. We were told the record attandance was just over 1,200 so with around 1,000 tranmere fans travelling the attendance of 1,995 comfortably smashed that. The away section covered two and a half sides of the ground with a small section of seats for around 100-150 fans with three small posts partially obscuring a clean view the remainder saw no elevated view just standing behind the perimeter boards. Tranmere were the better side for long periods although sat deep for twenty minutes in the second half inviting some pressure. Their was plenty of controversey in the game with the first goal being flagged for offside but the referee over ruled the decision, later a lofted ball towards the tranmere goal looked certain to go in until a tranmere player reached up and caught it under pressure but the ref gave a foul in rovers favour maybe before the catch? Kirby looked to have added his second following up after a partial save from the keeper but was(wrongly it seemed and by a long way) flagged again for offside although he did get his second in similar circumstances. Late substitutes Stephenson and Norwood combined well on several occassions and led to the final goal in injury time with Norwood heading home from Stephensons cross. Went back to Rugby after the game and ate out at a thai restaurant before heading home unfortunately via another detour this time via the A41 as the M6 was still closed.
