In front of a bumper Sunday crowd, Sporting progressed to the next round of the Vase with a 3-1 win over a irritable and irritating Lichfield City side. Sporting made their intentions clear from the outset when Reece Hewitt opened the scoring in the eighth minute converting a far post header from a Will Tibbetts cross from the right. Jason Cowley found the net on the half hour mark to double Sporting''s lead when his fine shot gave the Lichfield ''keeper no chance. The second half was always going to be a case of who scored the next goal, and Lichfield probably should have scored on more than one occassion, but it was Sporting who got their third in the 79th minute, with an instinctive shot from the edge of the area which bounced awkwardly for the keeper. Lichfield grabbed a consolation when substitute Liam Holt netted with 5 minutes left on the clock.
