Arranged to stay with friends down south near beaconsfield for New year, naturally i put in a search for saturdays fixtures and thought i''d found a good one at Maidenhead but luckily on deeper scrutiny i spotted that it was in fact being played on the Sunday. Back to the drawing board and both Harrow Borough and Staines were at home with about 30mins travel time and i plumped for the former and their game against Lowestoft. It was an early 1pm kick off with the gates opening at 12.15 the programme was a double issue also covering their game v Enfield on the 2nd due to printing deadlines. Whilst at the ground i heard that Brentord had a late kick off against Norwich and i could have easily made the game but thought my hosts wouldn''t have been impressed plus with a cost of at least £28 entry it couldn''t be justified and the 0-0 result meant the £10+£1 transfer to the stand and six goals were better value for money.
The ground had a few quirks with a slopped pitch from side to side and seeing drivers heading into the ground paying their entrance fee to the game whilst still in their vehicles before parking at the rear of the far goal. The visitors started as the walking wounded with the no10 sporting a bloodied bandage around his head and a second player with a bandaged hand. Harrow took an early lead but Lowestoft equalised straight away the game had moments of niggle but Harrow deserved their victory.
