Oh what a night !! Mid September on a Monday night !! Beat the scum there where f***ingg s***e, I remember what a night !!
September 16th 2002, Fight Night !! Birmingham City v Aston Villa for the first time in the league for 16 years !!
The days started with Fletch and Jimmy going the woodpecker for a few with Barter and Grainger !! The vile fans where convinced they would win 3-1, Fletch and Jimmy where unsure but with Graham Taylor in charge of the vile there was always a chance !! After the woodpecked the lads headed to digbeth and had a few in the adam and eve and then a few in the clemence as the match approached !! The lads walked up before kick off but the old bill being the idiots they are would not let the blues fans through, eventually someone called for everyone to charge and they did. A couple of lads got nicked in the middle of the road but the majority got through and approached St Andrews.
The lads got in the ground, the atmosphere was electric, Steve Bruce was to later compare it with the atmosphere off Gallatasary, there was venom in the air, you could smell it !! The teams arrived to a massive roar, St Andrews hadn't seen anything like this in years !! The game began with Birmingham the better side and just after the half hour mark they struck !! Jeff Kenna looped a ball in to the box, Robbie Savage got a touch and Clinton Morrison poked home to st andrews wild !! There where fans on the pitch, fans on Steve Bruce, the scenes where amazing !! The vile soon went close to equalising as De La Cruz's shot took a wicked deflection to beat Nico Vaesen but hit the bar !! The half ended and Blues led the scum 1-0 !!
A pint at half time to top up the alcohol levels and back out for the second half !!
The Second half began and Villa pressed for a equaliser and had a Vassel goal ruled out for offside !! The match was even but the vile where preasuring Blues until the 77th minute when the most comical moment you will ever see occured !! Melberf took a throwing back to his goalkeeper Enckleman who let the ball touch his foot and roll under and go in to the back off the net !! St Andrews couldn't believe it, Steve Bruce was trying to make a sub at the time and as he looKED the ball was in the net !! Villa tried to appeal Enckleman didn't touch it but Savage and Cisse pointed out Encklemans hand on head reaction and the goal was given !! 2-0 and game over but there was still time for a magical 3rd !! Geoff Horsefield on as a second half sub latch on to a mistake from Aplay six minutes later to smash a shot in the bottom corner !! 3-0 GAME OVER !! The whistle arrived to mass cheers from the St Andrews faithful, the scum where well and truly beaten and it was a wonderful night for Birmingham City !! Little did the scum know they would not beat Birmingham in there next five league games, losing three off them but thats another story !!
Fletch and Jimmy headed off with Pez and Bateman to a dodgy Digbeth boozer for celebratory drinks till about 12:30 and then for a balti, the lads got in gone 2am, it was a great night and one never to be forgotten !! S**T ON THE VILE !!
